April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th July, began taking guitar and piano classes at age seven. The passion for songwriting was sparked. April's very first song was titled Different which she composed at 12 years of age. The year she turned 14 was when she spent a lot of time composing song ideas and practicing her musical skills. The songwriting began with her dad on the streets of NY and LA soon after. April began including other topics in Take My Hand for her friends who were dealing in the face of peer pressure, disability or suicide. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with a growing number of followers. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia in partnership, along with being a specialist in lifestyle. Her birth was without a left hand, and it's part of who she is--but it's far from the entirety of her story. Lockhart's Instagram profile doesn't reveal her disability, but does not concentrate solely on her disability. The message is? The message is that we are more than just our physical self. Our identities are intricate and comprise a multitude of elements. Lockhart declared in video form that she does not want to be defined by her physical disability. She doesn't wish to work as a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There is a lot of aspects that make up Lockhart. This doesn't have any effect on my normal life. I just do every day as normal and have found ways to manage the things. It's also part of me so I think it's essential to discuss. Lockhart's journey to acceptance of herself will be one that lasts a lifetime, but she inspires me with regard to this. Lockhart has admitted that she's experienced periods when she was unsure about sporting certain clothes that revealed her arms. She now wears whatever she wants and posts pictures of herself in these outfits on social media, she is proud of herself. It's all a process is the most important thing that I'm not sure that you ever arrive in self-love. This applies to everyone, no matter what their degree of self-confidence. It's my opinion that having those with you who have a sense of who you are and understand your feelings is crucial as they'll be the ones that remind you of what are you worrying about?
