Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. At the age of nine, Decker's family was living in Louisiana which was where she took home a regional talent contest with the cover of Patsy's "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. At the age of 15, Decker resided in Georgia. She'd started writing songs, and was paying regular visits to Nashville and making rounds of record labels and music publishers in search of an agreement. In 1997, she'd reached the age of 17 when a Big Yellow Dog Records rep was introduced to her. He started selling her songs and music to various musicians and record companies. Decker was just 17 when she was able to catch the attention of a representative from Big Yellow Dog Records. They began shopping her songs to labels and artists. Jessie James released her debut album in August of 2009. It was a self-titled release. Jessie James had a moderately popular debut record. Wanted, a song that was on the album made it to the Top 40 singles chart. However while Decker was always a country artist the album was produced and marketed using a popular audience in the back of her mind. Decker struggled to get more control over the music she released after the two prior singles weren't well received. Decker's album was titled Daughter of a Gypsy (or Sweet American Dreams), was canceled by Mercury when two of her singles did not chart on the chart for country.
